Discord alerts · Pre-Punk ENS

Go back to the list of names

Receive a message in your Discord server when a pre-punk .eth name becomes available. This page tells you how to start the alerts. You do not have to write code.

What the alerts tell you

You can receive two alerts. Select one alert or the two alerts.

Names that open for registration

The grace period of the name stops. Then anyone can register the name. A temporary premium starts at $100M. The premium decreases to $0 in 21 days.

Names that go to $0 premium

The temporary premium stops. Then the name costs the usual yearly price.

The alerts come two times each day, at approximately 02:22 and 14:14 UK time. Sometimes an alert comes later. Each alert shows the names that the last alert did not show, with the time for each name. Discord shows the times in your time zone.

Example of an alert in a Discord channel. The real alert also has a short explanation and a link to this page.

NOTE: A name can change after the alert. The last owner can renew the name during the grace period. Another person can register the name during the premium.

How the alerts work

A webhook is a special link to one channel in your server. Discord makes the link. When a message goes to the link, the message shows in the channel.

A webhook cannot read messages. It cannot reply. It is not a bot, and it cannot open your server.

  1. EthereumThe expiry date of each name
  2. Pre-Punk ENSThe update finds the names
  3. Your webhookThe link from Discord
  4. Your channelThe alert shows here

Two times each day, the site does these steps:

  1. It reads the expiry date of each pre-punk name from the Ethereum blockchain.
  2. It finds the names that open, or go to $0 premium, in the next 26 hours. It does not show a name two times.
  3. It sends the alerts to each webhook on its list.
Before you start
Step 1. Make a webhook in Discord
  1. Open Discord and go to your server.
  2. Find the text channel for the alerts.
  3. Put the mouse pointer on the name of the channel. A gear icon (Edit Channel) shows.
  4. Click the gear icon. The channel settings open.
  5. Click Integrations.
  6. Click Create Webhook. If the channel has webhooks, click View Webhooks, and then click New Webhook.
  7. Discord makes a webhook and gives it a name. If the webhook is closed, click its name to open it.
  8. Optional: type a new name in the NAME box, for example Pre-Punk ENS.
  9. Make sure that the CHANNEL box shows the correct channel.

CAUTION: Keep the webhook link secret. A person with the link can send messages to your channel. Do not put the link in a chat.

  1. Click Copy Webhook URL. Discord copies the link.
  2. If you changed the name, click Save Changes.
Step 2. Start the alerts
Paste the link from step 1. The link starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/
Select the alerts
Optional: ping a role

Members with the role receive a notification. Leave the box empty for no ping. Step 3 tells you how to find a role ID.

Discord shows a test message in the channel. If you do not see the message, read Problems and solutions.

To change the alerts, do step 2 again with the same webhook link. The site keeps the new selection.

Step 3 (optional). Find a role ID

Do this step only if you want a ping for a role.

  1. In Discord, click User Settings (the gear icon near your name).
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Set Developer Mode to on.
  4. Close the settings.
  5. Open the server menu. Click Server Settings, and then click Roles.
  6. Optional: make a new role for the alerts, for example ENS alerts.
  7. Right-click the role. Click Copy Role ID.
  8. Paste the role ID in the role box in step 2.

You can use one role for the two alerts, or one role for each alert. Members can receive the role from an administrator, from the server Onboarding, or from a role bot.

NOTE: If members do not receive a notification, open the settings of the role. Set Allow anyone to @mention this role to on.

Stop the alerts

Use one of these two methods.

Method A: Use this page

Paste the same link that you used in step 2.

Method B: Delete the webhook in Discord

  1. Open the channel settings. Click Integrations, and then click View Webhooks.
  2. Click the webhook to open it.
  3. Click Delete Webhook.

At the next update, the site removes the webhook from its list.

What the site keeps

The site keeps the webhook link, the alerts that you selected, the role IDs and the date. It does not keep your name, the name of your server or your messages.

To delete this data, stop the alerts.

To prevent incorrect use, the site counts the tries from each internet address for one hour. It keeps only a coded form of the address.
